TA-02 PID Sensor Response Factors
Introduction
ION SENSE® MiniPID 2 sensors detect a wide range of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) by ionising molecules with UV light. Because different chemicals have varying sensitivities to photoionisation, Response Factors (RFs) are used to convert readings from the standard calibration gas, isobutylene, to accurate measurements of target chemicals.
This comprehensive technical article provides Response Factors for over 900 volatile chemicals across three lamp energies (10.0 eV, 10.6 eV, and 11.7 eV), along with essential guidance on measuring compound mixtures, converting between measurement units, and understanding the limitations and special considerations for specific chemical groups.
Whether you’re calibrating for a single known chemical or monitoring complex vapour mixtures, this reference guide provides the data and methodology needed for accurate PID-based VOC detection.
