Particle Measurement & VOC Sensing Technology.
ION SENSE is committed to protecting lives and preserving the environment by offering pioneering gas sensing technology that accurately monitors and facilitates the improvement to air quality. Two key air quality pollutants that ION SENSE can detect are Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) and Particulate Matter (PM).
The Impact of Particulate Matter
According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), around 99% of the global population lives in areas where air pollution exceeds recommended guideline levels. Fine particulate matter (PM) is one of the most significant contributors to this exposure. Utilising particulate matter sensors, we can measure both the quantity and size of fine dust particles, crucial factors influencing air quality.
Our cutting-edge technology allows for ultra-precise measurements, even in extreme climatic conditions. The sensor simultaneously reports PM1, PM2.5 and PM10, together with both mass concentration (µg/m³) and particle number concentration (particles/L), providing a more comprehensive assessment of airborne particulates.
Understanding Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs)
Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) are carbon-based chemicals emitted from a wide range of sources including solvents, fuels, cleaning products, building materials, industrial processes and some natural sources. Many VOCs, some with short and long-term adverse health effects, are found in both indoor and outdoor environments. Indoor VOC concentrations are often higher than outdoor levels due to emissions from furnishings, construction materials, cleaning products and reduced ventilation.
MiniPID 2 Variants Optimised for Air Quality Monitoring Include:
MiniPID 2 PPB Sensor: Optimised for low-end ppb sensitivity and with a wide dynamic range of 40 ppm makes it ideal for measuring air quality in diverse indoor and outdoor settings.
MiniPID 2 HS Sensor: Recognised as the market’s most sensitive VOC sensor, this variant provides sub-ppb detection capability for applications requiring extremely low VOC detection limits.
MiniPID 2 10.0 eV Sensor: Suited for spaces requiring selective measurement of highly toxic VOCs like benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylene.
Overcoming Environmental Challenges
Humidity is one of the principal challenges for PID technology. Improved resistance to humidity effects helps reduce baseline drift and improves measurement repeatability in demanding environmental conditions. ION SENSE’s patented Fence Electrode Technology improves measurement stability by reducing the effects of humidity and contamination that can influence conventional PID designs, helping to minimise false readings and maintain measurement accuracy. ION SENSE’s commitment to accuracy and reliability makes our technology indispensable for comprehensive air quality assessments.
Summary
ION SENSE provides advanced gas sensing technologies to combat global air pollution by accurately monitoring Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) and Particulate Matter (PM). Using high-precision PM and MiniPID 2 sensors. ION SENSE delivers reliable data under extreme conditions to improve indoor, outdoor, and industrial air quality.
